Patrick Singleton (of No Wave bluegrass group Looks Like A Snake!) and Frank Baugh (of bedroom dronebeast Sparkling Wide Pressure) phone it in from Murfreesboro, TN. Far from riding the crest of the current resurgence in synth/landscape music, these two have been digging at it for years, and digging deep. Surprisingly, the phone doesn't compress any of the strata; far from it, it's the perfect medium. Disquieting industrial soundscapes give way to sheets of organic feedback, at once beautifully lush and starkly unsettling. Sirens and other noises act like disembodied voices, climaxing in a squall of creaks and groans, and ending in perfect cadence. Machine love-letters transmitted across miles of polluted murk.
